Best Juice: 10 Best Juices We Tried in Our Taste Tests

Sometimes the best juice tastes like it was fresh pressed right before it arrived on the grocery store shelf. Other times, the best fruit juice is sweet and sugary and leaves a red stain above your lip. We, the juice-crazed Sporked staff, have tried them all. And now, we’ve listed all the winners of all of our best juice tastes tests here. 

From the best orange juice to the best fruit punch to the best tomato juice (we see you, tomato juice drinkers!), here are the best juice brands and the best juices they make that you can buy at the supermarket, no expensive, impossible-to-clean juicer required. 

Best Orangge Juice

Editor-in-chief Justine Sterling called this “the platonic ideal of store-bought orange juice.” It’s sweet and tangy and bright—perfect for gulping down at breakfast or mixing into a cocktail like a Mimosa or a Screwdriver. It’s not quite fresh-squeezed (there’s no pulp, after all) but it comes pretty darn close.

Best Cranberry Juice

Ocean Spray isn’t just the most prevalent cranberry juice, it’s also the best cranberry juice. “It’s a classic for a reason,” senior staff writer Jordan Myrick wrote in their ranking of the best cranberry juices. “It’s not too sweet and not too tart.” If you’re looking for the best fruit juice to drink straight or use as a mixer, this cranberry juice is a great option.

Best Tomato Juice

Sporked contributor Danny Palumbo called this tomato juice “refreshing” in his write-up of the best tomato juice brands. He praised how “natural” the juice tastes and noted that it has less salt and less sugar than its competitors. “It’s all tomato flavor, and I’m here for it,” he wrote. If you’re a tomato juice drinker (or you’re looking for a good base for a homemade Bloody Mary mix), this is one of the best fruit juices for you to have on hand (yes, tomato is a fruit for our purposes).

We’re big fans of Simply over here at Sporked. And they really outdid themselves with this apple juice. “This not-from-concentrate juice looks and tastes extremely fresh and natural,” managing editor Gwynedd Stuart wrote in her best apple juice ranking. “Like something you’d pick up at a roadside stand attached to an apple orchard.” That’s high praise for a store-bought apple juice.

This isn’t just a grape juice for kids. It’s bold and complex. “It’s tart and tannic without drying your mouth out,” Gwynedd wrote in her ranking of the best grape juices. She went as far as saying it’s good enough to drink out of a wine glass. If that doesn’t qualify something as one of the best fruit juices out there, then I don’t know what does.

You get what you pay for when you opt for Evolution’s grapefruit juice. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s also crazy delicious. “The second you twist the lid off this bottle, you can smell the freshness here,” Gwynedd wrote in her ranking of the best grapefruit juice. “And the taste lives up to the smell.” If you can’t grow your own grapefruits in your backyard, Evolution grapefruit juice is the best fruit juice you can buy.

You’ll never do better than fresh-squeezed lemonade, but Newman’s Own gets you close. “It has a nice, zesty quality and is certainly not as sweet as many of the other lemonades we tried,” Justine wrote in her ranking of the best store-bought lemonade. It’s zingy and zippy and if you’re a kid, you could make some decent cash selling it from a stand.
